WOYWW 841/61/Interlocking

This is what it looks like just after one of your first attempts at digital cutting since life has given you the ability to even think about it!
You can check out how the accordion folds interlock
this file is a good one for someone coming from manual die cutting to digital.
No fiddly bits, and even tho it ends up with moving parts, there are just a few.
All the design engineering is done for you!
Please hold my dear SIL in the Light, with a new breast lump diagnosis, and lots of other challenges to deal with in this challenging world.
Its not the suffering Olymipics!
We are all interlocking- and are here to help eachother.
through these life challenges as well as desk mess!

WOYWW 817/38- Have A Heart

I got some valentines made yay!
We all need more love right now.
As an american, I am shamed and ashamed of the behavior of positions over whom I seem to have little control.
Please forgive us if these actions harm you in any way.
I often say, this, WOYWW is what peace looks like, and the friendship and support i have gotten here over the years transcends any policy actions "they " can impose on us.
I hope they get a lot of valentines to open their hearts.
For my activist friends
My recovering WNC friends and those who love us
Grandchildren
A RAK swap
for a challenge, and to a special friend who always remembers to send a card!

Go out and love some more!

WOYWW -814-Lots of challenges

AH(after Helene,) one of the symptoms of acute trauma is inability to focus..
You can see there is not much on my desk.
I'm very grateful to all my arts communities for prayer, support and generous art supplies!
Art Impressions has 3x3" challenges, and January theme was
put a bird on it, so as a Robyn I couldn't resist.
It did take me almost 2 weeks to finish, and I did, and that in itself is healing.
Also an, add gold challenge, and you need a blog to link to and
when I realized it was also Wednesday- done!

Life keeps happening! I do have a beautiful new granddaughter, Remi Jade, all doing well.
Time to focus on what we have not lost more than what we have.
Thanks for visiting, comments and questions always warmly welcomed.

I have a desk! WOYWW 807/27

 WOYWW?

If a picture is worth a thousand words, I pray this one brings thousands of thanks to each one of you who sent prayers, a card, and supplies.
I havent posted since Hurricane Helene came through my Town, in Western North Carolina, USA, and changed all of our lives.
I'm finding it important to focus more on what I have not lost, than what I have.
I have not lost my life, family and close friends and pets all safe.
I have not lost my faith, my world wide friends of community, and support.
(I did lose my home and much of my belongings)

I had a plan to get back to each individually, and that went the way of my life BH(before Helene). I moved several times, before finally getting stable housing Nov 1- and these cards were my touch stones in each new space.
There are no words to express how much the support, friendship and generosity of my on line art communities mean to me- to all of us.
Art saves live, and heals, and united in our WOYWW community, we care for and with, each other.
I have shared these cards and some of the supplies with many other artists, and pray they will find the strength of community in them that I do.
Much of the paint and paper when into our child play pop ups while our schools and daycares were closed. I know there were prayers in every stroke of the pen and brush.
(if you don't see your card, a little artist, may have taken it for their own!)
Thank you!

WOYWW 798-If you can't make a mess....

...you can't make anything!
I'm usually a tidy crafter, and with travel and tying loose ends of all my work duties, it's creating in fits and starts.
It will all come together, and in the meantime, i'm embracing my own messiness and enjoying thinking about the joy in sending and receiving holiday cards.
God(ess) bless our Postal Services!
Thanks for visiting.

WOYWW-785/5-15th Anniversary ATC swap and New Beginnings

 WOYWW

A bit of a staged photo- gathering most of my ATC swaps and cards I've made after taking a very fun and inspirational
Online Card Class on embossing folders.
In addition to the class we had an active FB group to keep the learning, sharing and inspiration going between sessions.
I love the making new friends part as much as learning new techniques.
I am happy to be here with our new Desk host Sarah, and hope to do some visiting as I have a day off today!.

More than one way to plant a seed. Brave Girl Cards.

Most every day I take what is left on my desk, and make a Brave Girl Card-
an Artist Trading Card (ATC)
that is to be given away or traded.
It is my practice to give them to someone I dont know well, or meet on the street
offering them a piece of my self to help me to be brave, and to help them to be brave.
I've planted a lot of flower and veggie seeds, and they found their way to my desk and a new life as
Brave Girl cards.

WOYWW 780- 15th Anniversary on the 15th!

15 on the 15th!
Keeping in the culture aside from the ATC's this is totally unstaged.
It is what is on my desk this Wednesday!
Thinking back over all we have been through together.
On one level sharing our desks and creative journeys...
On the heart level, sharing our joys and sorrows, births and deaths...
the pandemic!
And here we still are, sharing in ways we never imagined possible when we first picked up our crayons, and sharing as folks have for centuries,
exchanging addresses and sending of pieces of ourselves, today in the form of
Artist Trading Cards.
This is what peace looks like!
The crowned one is for Julia- because !
One for my forward person, and I  think I am trading with a few other folks- let me know for sure, and if you would like to trade leave a comment and we'll see what I have.
I think the theme for this year is
Don't Wait.
For someone to send you flowers, share a kind word, read that book you've had in the pile for ages, take a walk...you tell me.
Thank you all dear deskers for the 15, and here's to fifteen more.

WOYWW -772- Cure for Spring Fever? Card Swaps!

I usually put the photo of my desk first, and I fudged today as I want this to show up in shares.
Read on...

Not much to see on the desk!
Cards have gone on their merry way.
A coin and stamp collection shop opened in my Town, and they have a bin of non collectables that feed my mail art habit!
some digital stickers I better hurry up and use, and the stencil from the card.

The cards were created for a swap. I dearly love swaps, and I'm beginning to have more time for them again.
This one was in a digital cutting FB group, and only three of us so very doable.
You can read all about it
Challenging to be at the desk with this glorious spring weather!
Thanks for visiting!

WOYWW-765-Seeing Red!

Valentine, galentine, palentine, what ever...I'm having a ton of fun making and getting ready to give them away.
I will be sure to put some in our
Free Little Art Gallery (FLAG)
The PO raises it prices, and lowers what it allows on envies, and still, what would we do without them?
My BFF Diane signs her cards heart garden, so off one of those heart gardens and envies go to her!
Post about them here
Let's all go out and love some more!

Hearts Ahoy! thanks for visiting and I hope to do much of the same.
If you dont see my comment, its one of those mysteries of digital life!

WOYWW 760- Need a little Christmas now

A lovely time was had by all, all the wrapping is tossed or tidied, new toys as well.
On my own, now I feel like making Christmas cards!
It would be a first, and I guess they can be for next year!
All  good wishes and more for my dear desker friends in the new year.
Let there be light!
and as I frequently say,
This is what peace looks like.

See y'all in the new year.

WOYWW- 754-If you cant make a mess...

...you cant make anything.
Above shows I must be on my way to a lot of something, as clearly there is plenty of mess!
Poinsettias are the theme this year, and peace.....
I was having card anxiety, when I realized, no one is waiting for my cards, and I can stop calling them Christmas cards and think more along the line of holiday cards or even New Years cards to take off the pressure.
Yes, I am having fun yet, and I hope you are too!
If I don't leave you a comment it's because google doesn't want me too!
I don't buy much, and I caved and bought myself one of those new glue press things in the middle right.
i do like it so far, and I think you could accomplish the same not having to cap the glue function, by putting a small piece of silicone mat in the bottom of a jar that would hold your glue bottle, with the tiny tip pushing into the silicone.
Thanks for visiting, commenting and questions are always welcomed.

WOYWW-742-Inanimate Love/Doing it Manually

Previously, I would say my wood cookstove was the only inanimate object I was in love with.
My heart has grown to include my manual typewriter.
I was using my printer to simulate manual type, and I can tell you
the original is still the greatest!

If you are new to my desk, each day I take what is left on my desk at the end of the day and make an ATC Brave Girl Card.
ATC's are only gifted or traded, and these I give away to someone I dont know- to help me to be brave- sharing a piece of myself with a stranger, and trust that the card will help them to be brave when they need it- and it can always be passed on as well.
hand lettered calligraphy stamp by Suzanne Cannon (might be vintage now{alas})

Our local Library has a
Free Little Art Gallery
and I've been know to leave some in there as well.

Email me if you need a Brave Girl Card!

WOYWW-737-Anniversary Review!

It just came to me,I took the photo, and I never posted a photo of my Anniversary ATC's!
Julia's arrived with a bonus pin! so it must be time.

I've been making a lot of post cards lately- why apples?
IDK- the paint was on the pallet and was saying apples to me.

Lots of heat here in the northern hemisphere  even in our beautiful mountains, and somehow I never feel hot when I am painting.

I hope y'all enjoyed the swap as much as I did, still am, and grateful as ever for the friendship and support of all deskers, swappers or not.

WOYWW-713-Community Art with Heart!

This is what my desk looked like while I was creating the journal for our
Community Art Show and Fundraiser.
Please read about that
We were given a discarded book to create anything! to raise money in auction for our local library and art center.
You often hear me say it, and worth repeating.
Art Saves Lives
and
This is what peace looks like.
If you are in or visiting Western NC, USA, do come by and enjoy the art, and give generously.
And if you are elsewhere, please share this concept with your locals.

Last week I had the time to visit every desker!
There were some blogs I was unable to comment on, tho please know I enjoyed visiting and grateful for each one of your visits!
A couple of deskers asked about the vase last week- I honestly don't know where it came from! I find having flowers or a plant on the desk inspires me, and often gives me color combinations I didn't know I was looking for.
Comments and questions warmly welcomed.

Beyond the Binding - Community Art show and Fundraiser- Open Heart Journal

Beyond the Binding
Community Show and Fundraising Auction
Benefit for Black Mountain Library and BMCA.

Reception Friday February 3 at BMCA 5:00-6:30pm
Show and Auction continues February 3- 24.
Please give generously!

I was going to pass on this 2nd in a becoming annual community art show and fundraiser, for lots of reasons.
You can see last years,"Check this Out!
Then I was in the library, and our wonderful head Librarian and I had a mutual admiration session, and I left with a book to participate.
Even before I got home I was filled with ideas.
Deconstructing involves, heat, moisture and patience.
This is what my work desk looked like!
Check out WOYWW
here

I wanted the journal to be used, and realized the books pages were too crumbly to be up cycled.
Four individual signatures were bound with a 3 hole stitched binding, incorporating
watercolor paper,
fine writing paper
110 lb card stock
heavy weigh decorative paper
for multiple uses and media.

The signatures are bound into the cover with satin ribbons, so all are removable, and more could be added to replace them.

There are 2 ribbon bound interior pockets for whatever, and a pocket on the front and back cover
with a tag added, just for fun.

and of course a book mark of hand dyed silk ribbon with glass leaf charm!
The front cover has embossed Hearts and hand lettered embossed title.
The elastic band keeps it closed as you stuff it to your hearts content!
Wrap the band on the back cover when not in use.
I'm including and envelope full of all the cut offs and bits and bobs I didn't use, for your enjoyment.

Please give generously!

If you are not the new owner of this journal, be sure to check out the
Free Little Art Gallery
by the Community room at the Library.
I frequently leave small journals and ATC's for to you take, and be inspired to bring art to share of your own!
Comment and questions warmly welcomed.

WOYWW-712-Have a Heart

Are words necessary?
Deskers all, know that the simple act of creating and sharing the creation is enough to contribute to the end of suffering for all beings.
This is what peace looks like!
I'm using up lots of bits and bobs  from my valentine drawers and splurged and bought that conversation heart stamp set (mid left) at the Thrift shop last week for fifty cents!
Hugs all around!
Comments and questions welcomed.
