If you can't take the Glitter , get out of the Craft Studio!

Warning- this post may seriously affect your judgment on how much glitter is appropriate!

I had planned on doing a 15 Minute Wonder post, catching up on all the wonderful new digital cutting files from Suzanne's Silhouette store, and  I got hijacked by this one card.
Then I read Holly's post today on Quietfire Creations  and knew it was fate to just spend hours making lots of cards with just one file!
Below is the file as you DL it from the store.
Then hit ungroup and create with our limits!
Straight off the mat
 Add some stenciling and glitter...
and beyond!!
The little tree flips when you open and close the card!
More variation...

You can make this Christmas Tree 3D Ornament in 15 minutes!

Celtic Peace Postcard from my ,Off My Desk, series.
Soak up all of the ink off your craft mat, and only use stuff that is on your desk at the end of the session.

T is for Tuesday- Dobra Tea

I've made the statement that is is hard to get a good meal in Black Mountain.
I'm sticking by that, and if Dobra Tea Room moves into more of a meal, it might be possible this could be the place to change my mind.

Dobra is basically a tea house, with some light fare, treats and a lot of tea, and seasonal drinks.
The drinks and treats are way above average,
the wifi is good,
and the service is variable.
Could be what I consider poor service others consider laid back.
I have had several delightful tea times with friends at Dobra, sometime with very good attentive service and  sometimes not.
This most recent afternoon, Dobra was basically empty and myself and two friends sat at our table for a good 10 minutes before our server appeared with the book and the bell.
She said ring when you are ready and disappeared.
Orderding here has a learning curve!
Other servers have asked if we had been there before and offered some instruction.
I don't think you should need instruction to order.
The "menu' is a thick book with everything you never knew you wanted to know about tea, which is fine, and a short menu sheet might be nice for those of use who prefer to remain in ignorance until after we have our tea.
When you are ready to order, you ring the bell.

I was excited to find French Broad  Chocolate Lounge Drinking Chocolate on the menu, with a variety of "milks" available: cow, soy and sunflower.
The best chocolate in my own home town and no waiting in line!

I asked the server what sweets were available and she said they had everything on the menu, and the first choice I asked for, she said, oh we're out of that.
I ordered my chocolate with sunflower milk, and she said, oh, we are out of that.
So, I got up and went to look at the bar where the sweets are displayed( would be helpful if the server suggested this) and picked out a

Pistachio Rose Cookie
a seriously wise choice!
All the baked goods are gluten free- some do have butter.

We ordered two chocolates and a cider(see above) and I was a bit concerned that she didn't know which was the cow and which was the soy.
It was delicious and I was very glad to see it came in a decent sized cups.
I enjoy the tea here, and not the tiny cups.

All gone!

When I called to find out the name of the cookie, I was reminded that they have Poetry on the first and third Tuesdays of the month, 6-8 pm
Till then please visit
and link and comment.
Lots of new Quietfire Design stamps coming this week too, so check back soon.

Poetry Journal Monthly- November 2014- Walking over the Blue Route

Poetry Journal Monthly
is a place to share and enjoy poetry, poets, creative journaling and each other.
PJM has moved herself over to RainbowWeaves in honor of simplicity.
Guidelines are here.
Please join me in bringing more poetry, color, creativity and journaling into our world.

Give Mr Linky below some love and leave a comment for  a prize drawing of a
 Quietfire Design rubber stamp.
We fought the building of PA 476, the Cross Town Expressway, known as the Blue Route for over 20 years.
They wore us down, lied to us, bankrupt us, and we tired, believed some of what they said, went broke and gave in.
People told me, its time to give up.
I wanted to lay down- hundreds of women and children in front of the machines, holding on to the trees and say stop!
They wanted to just throw more money at the legislature.
Let the lawyers handle it, they said.

I still haven't given up.

To get to my faith community I had to walk daily by the construction site.
They had machines that ate whole trees.
I looked at the men working there- just men- no women- and thought about them wanting to feed their families.
This what they had to do to feed their families.
I knew the true consequences of this destruction, desecration of the land, exchange for 15 minutes shorter commute.

To get to Pendle Hill after construction, I had to walk over the road on an elevated bridge.
Less trees, lots of concrete and cars. Lots of cars.

People came to me after the road was built and said,
"Why didn't you tell us it would be like this?"
I told you.
I am still telling you.

Now I have moved away, and they are still wanting to build more roads to go faster.
Where are they going?

Walking over the Blue Route

If I am down there, driving in my car
I am one of them.
Even tho my trip is righteous and will save the world
when I put my foot to the petal,
I am one of them.

Up here, feet on the earth, head in the sky
God's solar machine...

Where am I going anyway?

I can reach out anytime and touch the trees
get a drink in the stream
My miles per hour the pulse of the heartbeat of the Great Mother.

Oh yes, that's where I 'm going.
Mother calls me home to dinner.
"Stay on the path", she says, "Don't dawdle!"

I dawdle.

And I'm coming Mother.
The rivers and trees know when to go and where to stand.

How do I tell this to them?
They are in their cars, doors locked , climate controlled, DVD, cellphones vibrating.
If I say, "I Love you", will they give me a ride?
and then I will hijack them into the woods.
No gas stations in the woods.

Maybe, we could meet at a red light.
I would knock on their window and smile
"Come home to dinner", I'd say.

Here is the path.
Don't Dawdle.
