WOYWW-691-Birthday Wishes And Many more!

Dear Deskers!
Over the past 13 years many of you have become BFFs that I will never meet.
Along with visiting each week, we have gone though
life changes , death, craft disasters, art emergencies,
and had a lot of fun.
The past year my focus has shifted to care and love for my grandchildren.
I forgot how much energy it takes to be in love!
Today is my birthday, and gifts and cake abound!

I have three wishes for y'all!
1. Cake! lots of Cake!
                                                  2. Friends to celebrate you no matter where you  are!
                                                                3. Self care and good health that we will live to see our grands       blogging on WOYWW!

Huge shout out to BFF Chris for the Eggnog cake! and PA friends for the fun gifts and always feeling held and remembered.
I'm going ot need a lot of TY ATC's!

Use it or lose it- I gave a way a die cut machine- I really dont need more than one, and I still have two,
and decided if I dont use the dies they will go with it, so you can see some die cutting in evidence.
Its been awhile since I worked for Spellbinders, and I can say, their early dies were lovely!
More gifts to open!
More friendship to cherish and enjoy!
More drool to wipe up.
and Happy birthday everyone!
Everyday we are Born, everyday we are free!

Forgiveness, Fun,Fiber, a Fairy and Fruit- T is for Tuesday

Not necessarily in that order!
In a moment of insanity I joined a quiltie swap.
4x4
Two pieces of cloth with something in-between.

Truth!
I do not have a large fabric stash.
I let it all go when I moved to NC, and it has been creeping a bit ever since.
The free table at Fiber Art Alliance (FAA) meetings is an ever present danger.
When my friend Kay(92) died a few years back, I saved this bundle of tartan samples.
D. Macgillivray & Co.
Harris Tweed Manufactures
Distributors for the Hebridean Crofter Weavers.
"On request we can smoke the material in peat smoke which we think gives it a distinctive odour and personality of it's own.
We believe each yard is worth much more than we charge."

The samples became the background layer
and I quickly add a focal image.
Stamped sentiment by Quietfire Design
The die cut is Spellbinders Nested Leaves.
FAA is full of quilters and their under facings, wonder under, misty fuse etc, all of which are a mystery to me, so I was excited to find a video on the web( I forget where, if you know shout out in a comment) turning my fabrics into cutables without any fusing.
Spray starch into the fabric, turn and press with a hot iron, forcing the starch up into the fabric and repeat till your fabric is just like a piece of paper.
I put it  onto my digital cutting mat
and it cut perfectly.
The fabric is a kona cotton.
The lower cut was double cut.
The leaf is one of Suzanne Cannon's files from the Silhouette Store, can't remember if it came from the newer tree file, or the Canada Day files.

These leaves were cut from tie dyed knit tee shirt.

I bought a walking foot for my trusty Singer 500 Slant
and had my first go at free motion sewing.
I love it!

The forgiveness part, is it's not quite 4" and doing no planning and being inexperienced, I wasn't able to put on a traditional binding.

I had so much fun with this, I'm planning on reorganizing to make my sewing area more accessible .

FUN!
Second Birthday party.
Hats off to Stu and Tim for throwing a great one!
if you are not lucky enough to live in Asheville, you can get it online!

Of course there was cake!
There was vanilla and chocolate.
It's bad luck not to eat cake at a birthday party, so I had a small piece of both.
Way above average store bought cake.
I especially like the little crunchy bits in between the layers.
Cookies?
Don't tell me what was in it.
When you eat food outside of your comfort zone, eat it with joy.
The most harmful food you can eat is guilt!

There were giant coloring pages .

Walk in the Light/ When you get to the End of the light you know...

I needed a quick graduation card for a lovely young man going off to  Seminary.
I didn't know this was the stamp I was looking for, and it called to me.
Keeping it simple and masculine I cut the frame from Spellbinders Mystical Embrace
(you want this one just for the name alone!)
and cut out the center panel with Matting Basic 5x7.
and colored the frame  with gold paint.

The Quote is stamped on the center panel with VersaFine Onyx and thermal embossed, and  with the paper in the die colored with Distress Linen.

Use the Matting die to cut out a piece of fun foam and glue that on to the quote panel, coloring the side of the foam with black and gold ink, so if you see it from the side it doesn't look like its panties are showing.

Oops! I dropped the quote panel into some ink! and I had already glued it all onto the card!

So, I made another panel and glued it on top- More dimension!

May this be so, for all of us taking steps, not always knowing where we are going, learning to walk in  the Light and faith.
Come back soon- Blog candy announcement coming and more 15 minute wonders!

Love- The Challenge!

It's hard for me to resist a challenge.

Queen Suzanne of Quietfire sent me to the Card Maker Tuesday Challenge:

“For those of us who have put off making a Valentine’s Day card for that special person, let’s do something easy and quick. Here’s the recipe: one paper, one heart (hand-cut, die-cut, sticker, etc.), one word sentiment, and one embellishment of your choice for your one true love.”

So I set the 15 minute timer for another 15 minute wonder.

Remember, the Queen of Hearts Blog Hop and Challenge is in full swing, so hop on over and see what you missed and be sure to stop by here tomorrow to see my love inspired projects.

Marco's and me in Lawrenceville

Greg is behind the camera!
Last weekend I had the  pleasure of working once again with Greg, from Marco's Paper, at an Heirloom Productions Stamp and Scrap show, in Lawrenceville, just north of Atlanta. We dodged the frozen bullet, by days, as Tuesday Atlanta was gridlocked in Snowmaggedon!

The show was very busy! Everyone wants to see something new, and I demoed the Mini Perfect Layers and the Spritzer, and lots of Spellbinders tips and tricks.

These lovely ladies teach 5th grade. Lucky Students! Lots of die cutting in their future!

The Heartfelt  folks put their power where their handle was...
Thanks everyone for coming out to see me and Marco's. We couldn't do it without you!

Imagine Ornament Swap

I love swaps! I find it a peace building activity to send crafty love out into the world to someone I've never met.

Imagine Crafts sponsored this ornament swap, and every time I type Imagine I hum a few bars of John Lennon!

Using Imagine/Tsukineko products, we made holiday ornaments, sending one to Imagine to be used for display at Winter CHA, and one to our swap mates, mine, Mary in MA.

I cut Spellbinders Create a Flake 4 the biggest die out of a DCWV glitter stack- 10 of the largest size, glued two together-could not have done this with out my Glue Marker- LOVE IT!- Marco's has them-and folded them in half.

The ornament die is a discontinued SB, I stamped the paper first with Brilliance Starlight Silver and Platinum Planet with a background stamp from About Art Accents.

Be sure you let it dry before you stamp with VersaMark and thermal emboss with Queens Gold.
The Quietfire Design Christmas Stamps are on sale- so hop over there and get yours in time to make a few more cards!

Tip of the day
{To make sure your paper is dry enough to emboss, pout some power on it before you stamp to see if it sticks.}

I sprayed some Fireworks on there-needed more glitz!
Then you fold and glue them all up and put them together, while praying for World Peace, add a few beads and a punched flake and off to the Post Office and wait for Mary's creation to brighten my day!

I'll be demoing a simplified version for Spellbinders at Michaels this month, so stop by and see me if you are in Western NC.
Arden Michaels, December 7 and 18, 2-5pm
and
Asheville Michaels, December 13 and 22, 2-5pm

You may say I'm a dreamer
I'm no the only one.
Maybe someday you'll join us.
And at the world will live as one.

WOYWW-On Your Desk ATC Exchange- Pinterest Party

Not much change from last week- some progress on what I can't show you, and more ATC's from my desk.
I got those fun card holders for less than a dollar on clearance at Joanns. The glues were free with a rebate- you get what you pay for.LOL!

WOYWW? I'm pleased to share and visiting will be limited for the next few weeks- travel and life!

On Your Desk ATC Exchange

I've started this series of ATC's.
At the end of the day I pick up whats on my desk  and make an ATC- try not to spend more than 15 minutes on it.
I've already traded quite a few, and soon they will pile up!
I'm thinking of a New Years Swap- so if you are interested leave me a comment and I'll start making a  list.
The guidelines are the usual ATC, and the card  should be made off of what is lying around on your desk at the end of the day. Backgrounds can be made  of excess ink from your desk.
Have fun!
WOYWW-ers may stop reading now!

Michaels Pinterest Party

Michaels had an in-house Pinterest Party and Spellbinders sent me as a Crafting Celebrity.

I was basically a personal craft consultant, helping folks to pick out products to create, in the Michaels classroom projects worthy of Pinning!

These ladies decorated wooden sleighs with paint, diecuts, glitter and lots of imagination !

I love being a creative educator and hope you will include me in your creative journeys!

Christmas Trio Challenge- AKA 9 Days of Christmas-The Back Story

Suzanne challenged her Design Team to create 3 cards with the new Christmas stamps- easy, a bit more and over the top.

You can see bigger photos and step outs at Quietfire Creations- as well as 8 more days of inspiration!
Leave a comment there too to win prizes!!!

This was my first effort.
I cut a shaped card from Spellbinders 2010 Holiday trees, stamped with Delicata GoldenGlitz, and added some metallic stars. Find the new Christmas stamps here.
My second card...

I cut the wreath shape with my Cameo from decorative paper, stamped on Spellbinders Splendid Circles, and backed the wreath with a cut from the Cameo and layered it on a glitter panel and onto a green card base.
See any transition? Neither do I! so I had to scrap these from the challenge.

Y'all know I am a clean and simple girl- card wise.
I managed to come up with the first two above fairly easily.
I almost never buy patterned paper, so I spend a wad at my LSS- A Stamp Artist Place-hoping to jump start something "over the top".

I have a big pile of rejects,
and some fab confetti!
That finally led me to the this
Shout out to Bird, for the inspiration of her digital scroll border.
which you can admire over at Quietfire Creations.
