Give Us Peace

This garland is created for my friend, neighbor and mentor, SaraJean, who works tirelessly for Peace, Justice and to make God's Love available to all beings.

I was  hoping to hang it on her door as a welcoming presence , even as she is afar this holiday season.

Planning and events seldom agree. It is snowing and blowing right now, and I too am called away unexpectedly to celebrate the life of my Dear Father in Law Mel, who went live with the Saints last night.

Shiney- I hope you can enjoy this digitally until you come home!

Close up
The back.

Please visit Quietfire Creations for details.
Rest in Peace Pop Pop.
I pray that if we keep it on our lips and in our hearts and post it on our doors that it will come.
Peace.

Cyberscribes Holiday Exchange

The Cyberscribes Yahoo Groups annual exchanges
are an opp for plenty of letttering practice and inspiration in the mailbox!

I'm in love with my versal/uncial/celtic brush lettering learned in Val Webbs Drawn and Decorated class.

The Card is shamelessly copied from Quietfire Design Team sister Holly*** thanks Holly!****

I used the Inkadinadoo Stamp Gear to create the star with the Quietfire flourished tree stamp and Peace is from a set of textured words.

The Snowflake is Spellbinders Create a Flake 4

I stamped with Versafine Ink and blended with Distress.

The inside Dona Nobis Pacem is also on the outside of the envie.

This is stamped with my fav new ink- Delicata Golden Glitz- when in doubt- add gold!

I pray sending out a lot of letters asking for Peace might help bring peace into our hearts and our world.

Comments and questions welcomed!

Thank you Miss Karen

This card is featured on the Quietfire Creations blog- hop over there for details.
I created it with a friend and Mentor, Miss Karen in mind.
I don't want to embarrass her with details, just honor her by saying she is someone who sees the beauty in butterflies and snowflakes, and her natural beauty is reflected in daily life  just as these wonders of nature.

In spite of hardship and adversity in her own life, she always finds time to  be kind and witness to the goodness and love that is available to us all.

Thanks Miss Karen and I hope you enjoy the card.

Forecast-Flurries with a Chance of Butterflies!

There is new rubber from Quietfire and it is creating a "flurry" of creativity!
This stamp is one of seven that I guarantee will stay on your drawing table till spring!

This ATC started with a white card base. I stamped the quote with VersaFine Onyx and thermal embossed with Ranger Clear fine Detail.
I always use an anti static pad before I emboss to help remove any powder that would stick to static or oils.

The butterflies are stamped in VersaMark, (I have two pads;one that I ONLY use with stamps that are CLEAN and one that I have messed up over the years. You want to use your clean one for this technique.) and thermal embossed clear.
Using the Ranger ink blending tool I applied tumbled glass and chipped sapphire Distress ink, and wiped off the butterflies with a soft cloth.
The snowflakes are a freebee stamp you get with your Quietfire order! stamped in Brilliance Platinum and a drop of Stickles in the center.

The border is VersaMark and Ranger Sticky embossing powder and Glitter Ritz Frosty Mint. The sticky emboss has a small open time, so be ready. Wait about 30 seconds after you sprinkle on your glitter and burnish the glitter with your finger.

Hold me in the Light- I'm working on instructional videos-coming soon- learning to speak Mountain Lion and trying not to get overwhelmed with video hardware!

The Layered Garden

If you love gardening, outstanding garden photography, and masterful storytelling, this new book by my dear friend Adam Levine with photo's by another old friend Rob Cardillo is a must have.

The Layered Garden

written by Adam, tells the story of our friend David Culp and the building of his garden in the Brandywine Valley.

The photo's are stunning and Adam knows how to tell a tale.

This is the perfect gift for the person who has everything, wants everything and enjoys a good read and beautiful pictures.

Thanks Adam and Rob for this holiday gift.

Holiday Handmade

It's that most wonderful time of the year when I wonder what my handmade ornament will be for this year.
We say we do "no presents" in my family and ornaments make a great no present.

I saw these stars on a yarn web site, the pattern was typical knitter code, so I made a sample in the orange yarn that seems to grow in my yarn bins.

I messed about till I got a star I was happy with and a pattern I could use to teach from.
Not very christmassy.
Leslie is creating Felted Witches Hats in the Nice Threads Studio
and with my timeline, this was as close as I was going to get for making one for this year.

These Light Beings are going to look spectacular
and sparkly on your tree.
If you're not on my list, come on by and let me
teach you how to make one
and...
as an added bonus learn how to write the pattern so it makes sense to you and you can modify it if you like.
