Friendship Altered Tin
This was an altered mint tin for a recent Ranger Swap. The theme was friendship.
I sanded the tin and painted it with gesso. When it dried I sponged on Alcohol Inks and silver and gold paint dabbers. The butterfly and flowers are gold stickers. I lined the inside with a piece of handmade felt made by Leslie Owens- a good friend.
It says,
Make new friends and keep the old, one is silver and the other gold.
I filled it with fun confetti and an angel charm and sent it off to my exchange partner. I'm looking forward to receiving hers in turn.
I'm getting close to 1000 visitors on this blog- Must be time for a giveaway-stay tuned.

Things That Fly
This is in homage to my son Ross and my visit to Taos. The mountain range is the Sangre de Christo, the blood of Christ and some evenings it is the vision of "purple mountains majesty".It's my entry in the Created by Hand Challenge 'Things that Fly"
I used the stamp positioner to alter the Quitefire stamp, I write you letters
and heat embossed with Ranger superfine powder.
The quote brought an image to my mind of words flying to their intended recipient.
Shadow images were versamark stamped and brought out with pan pastels. I had to put the eagle in there with the Olympics on my mind.
shout out to Shaun White and his big air.
My son is teaching snowboarding in Taos-fortunately I can only see him on the end of his runs- no half pipe watching for this proud Mom!
I also used my stardust pens for some glitter-hard to see.
Check out the challenge blog for other links.
thanks in advance for all your comments, suggestions and kind words.

Out siders become insiders
I'm leading the Montreat PCUSA Woman's Circle Bible Study tomorrow-weather permitting.
We're studying the book of Joshua, this week 2:1-24 is the focus.
I will be centering on Rahab and her sheltering of the Israelite men in her house in exchange for the safety of her family.
She is called a prostitute.
Rahab in Arabic and Hebrew means a wide and wecoming place.
Creating this for the alter is helping me to pray for guidance in teaching and listening.
Radical hospitality is important to me.
Now more than ever we all need to welcome the stranger, physical and mental, fleeing all kinds of dangers.
May my heart and my door be open.

Snow, snow, Go Away
Queen of my heart
I had lots of good excuses for not doing V day this year- travel, new job, snow, snow, snow, and then this morning I found this red textured paper I never liked, and the glaze pens I never used, and a lovely pile of valentines I received and a fabulous pile of new rubber from Quitefire and so, here is my last minute doodle from my heart.
I cut the card out with Spellbinders heart nestibilities. Put the fold of the card just inside the die cutting line to get a shaped card.
Maybe to myself and also to all the open hearts that have reached out to me this year and those I have yet to know in the coming year.
this is also my entry in the Queen of Hearts challenge
Quitefire- flourished heart
the "heart" from ,When Friends meet, hearts warm-I used the stamp positioner to get the hearts where I wanted them.
I wrote Queen of my heart with the Zig embossing pen and Ranger superfine embossing gold.
Glaze and stardust pens.
