WOYWW November 19 -Got Swap?

Gifties in singles and multiples are in full swing.
I'm hearing from many sources that swap numbers are down.
Two years ago the ByHand Artists 12 Days of Christmas Gift Mingle had 2 groups- that's 25 participants sending 12 gifts each all over the world to folks they don't know.
That is what I call Peace Making.
I love swaps!
This year I have the change the name to the Holiday Gift Mingle as I only got 10 participants.
Anyway, I'm in the spirit and having a blast!

What a very busy, and pretty desk! I think the cost of postage stops a lot of people from taking part in swaps these days, I know here in the UK it is very high to send anything bulky! Happy WOYWW Helen 4.

Our postal strike put an end to me participating in anything like this. I have 3 parcels yet to surface from September! Great to see what you are up to. #7

What a lovely exciting desk today! Swaps are out for me, both because of the cost, and being just too darn busy. I look forward to a day when I can just play, though that will only be because my domestic responsibilities have dwindled - def not looking forward to that bit. Sorry - starting to sound gloomy there. Have a great WOYWW, Chris # 8

Busy looking desk today…loads of stuff to snoop through! I love swaps and have quite a few in the works right now. I think the postage is a big deal with some. I am in 7 swaps on Paper Crafters Swap group and 5 of the 7 are going international. I had to pay $1.15 plus on some for each card. Have a great week. Vickie #17

Robyn how lovely to see your desk full of enthusiasm, and as usual - giving! I am the poorer for not doing swaps this year, but turned out so right not to sign up for a couple, despite really wanting to...my time has suddenly become all about working full time for Mr D and I can tell ya, it's not leaving me any time in which I feel like doing anything except sleep!! All the girls have so far added that the cost of postage is getting in the way of swaps, I understand and agree with that to a greater extent...but how else can you fly around the world for a handful of dollars!

I dearly love the idea of swaps but oh my trying to live on Social Security and paying postage just don't play well together. I've really had to change the way my Christmas Cards look this year so that I can avoid $2 postage for one card.

What a lot of lovely goodies on your desk this week. I suspect that the reduction in swaps might have something to do with the high rates of postage, which is a shame. It is worse at this time of year with all the Christmas cards to be sent. Hope you manage to get some swaps through and enjoy the results. xx Maggie

Happy WOYWW. I used to do a lot of swapping, but serious lack of time and energy stopped that. Finally getting into using my sewing machine and trying out other crafts is the main way that I use my 'spare' time now. I do miss the happy post! Ali x #42

Hi Robyn, how great to see such an action packed desk! I agree with the others, I think postage costs are having a huge effect on this sort of thing now, especially if there is any dimension to the projects people make. When you consider how far your gift may be going, its nothing, but when you have to hand the money over at the post office, its a bit of a shocker! Have a great week, Hugs, Shaz #2 xxx

Hi Robyn, it looks as though you are in full production mode with lots of interesting stuff on your desk. I do participate in a monthly swap and enjoy it immensely but I have to restrict myself to that because of the increased, and ever increasing, cost of postage. Such a shame ... gosh, I seem to be saying that a lot today! Have a great week. Elizabeth x #46

Wonderful makes on your desk this week Robyn!

Yes the cost of sending out swaps has become staggering. I used to join every swap I found, love getting all that happy mail, but soon found I had no more room to keep my treasures and I was NOT about to throw them away!! :O So I join only a few with the WOYWW birthday at the top of the list.

Have a great week and good luck in getting all you swap art finished and in the mail.

Hi Robyn, I don't know what to look at first... all that yummy creativity going on! Sorry to hear your swap numbers are down. I would have joined in had I known about it in time... oh well, next year.
I really like this WOYWW, we get to talk to one another once a week and see everyone's creativity... doesn't get any better than this!
Hugs and see you next week,
Beth P
P.S. haven't forgotten the button thing!

Wow! There's a lot of work on that desk! I like the idea of swaps. I've never done one. I think I'm probably not a good enough crafter. Do you have to make 12 different gifts? Or can they be the same as you send them to different people? I must find myself an easy swap to start with. ATC or something. Thank you for the inspiration. You've got me thinking of doing something new again.
Sorry I'm late, but I like to take my time and look at everybody's blog. I read it all and look at the links etc.
Thank you for letting me look over your shoulder.
Have a good week,
Lisca#24
